mandolinist | composer

"One of the truly exceptional musicians of his generation, Joe Brent recognizes no boundaries the mandolin cannot breach, and thus seems destined to forge a body of work future generations will have to reckon with." — David McGee

June: a rather exciting month

I'll be kicking off the month of June with a performance at Rockwood Music Hall Stage 3 with 9 horses at 9:30. It will be our first show with bassist extraordinaire Shawn Conley and we couldn't be more excited to be playing together at last! To order tickets, follow the link.

Continuing through the month, I'll be performing in the Shakespeare In The Park production of Much Ado About Nothing. Featuring Lily Rabe (American Horror Story), Hamish Linklater (Fantastic Four), Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones), and Brian Stokes Mitchell (Tony Award winner for Kiss Me Kate, 4-time nominee), and with music by David Yazbek (The Full Monty, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels), it's a tremendous honor to be involved and I'm really looking forward to the production.

Finally, I'll be rehearsing throughout the month for the upcoming NYMF production of Bayonets of Angst, by Rick Kunzi and Adam Barnosky, which I'm music directing and which will feature a band made up of some of the finest musicians in New York (also some of my favorite people!). More information about this to come.
