Think about the past few years of your life. Think of each triumph, each tragedy, each love, and each love lost. If you could put all of that in one big pile and look at it all at once, what would it look like? More importantly, would you even want to?
Writing music or fiction or poetry or pretty much anything creative is like putting all of your joy and sorrow and fear and all that other stuff in a big pile and inviting everyone else to come over and look at it. It's terrifying. Gratifying sometimes too, but scary all the time. I do it because, well, it's kind of the only thing I know to do with it.
I've put all of myself into the music I make with 9 Horses. I hope you like it. Actually, I'm OK if you don't like it. Suppose what I really couldn't abide is no reaction at all. But one way or another, I have to keep doing this. Some people meditate, or see a therapist, or collect stamps. I do this.
We're making an album now. We're calling it 'Perfectest Herald', after a line in Much Ado About Nothing ("Silence is the perfectest herald of joy; I were but little happy if I could say how much.") It's the next step if we want to keep doing this. We're ready to document our progress, and get it out into the world. But we need help to do it. If you'd like to help, 9 Horses and I would really, really REALLY appreciate it. And in return, we hope to not just give you an amazing album, but a whole bunch of other backer rewards as well, including 9 Horses merch like hats, t-shirts, and promotional prints, a selection of all of our previous albums, and the opportunity to have your name listed in the credits of this album. I've even offered to service and detail your car, or you can have a surfing lesson with Shawn, or Sara will make you a hand-made cross stitch. There's lots of good stuff on offer, and all to show how much we'd appreciate your help. If you can make a (tax-deductible) donation, click this link.
Thank you for listening, thank you for being a part of this with us, thank you for your love and support. Thank you.
